There’s always

A Place By The Fire

For You

Welcome!

I am so very glad you decided to drop in on A Crowded Table, a quiet spot to sit & read, sip & savor, and connect your world to mine.

A Crowded Table is inspired by one of my favorite songs, Crowded Table, by the HighWomen. Their beautiful lyrics speak to the value of belonging, and how we can experience that reality through gatherings about a table & fire or within the confines of home.

If I had to choose only two spots to live the rest of my life, I would choose to seat myself first at a table laden with dear voices, delicious food, and lovely faces and second, I would tuck myself near a fireplace and tend to the roaring fire while in conversation with a kindred spirit or my Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

What spots speak home most to you?

I remember as a young girl a tidbit of advice about hospitality I will never forget...

Home—the word calls to everyone some way, filling the senses, conjuring images, registering in the spirit emotionally and spiritually, invariably tied to longing.  In this rich, textured, personal and unique piece, Abigail Newport helps us define and locate that specific longing.  Writing in graceful prose, incorporating memoir and poetry and suggesting resources for further reading, she takes us through the stages of loss and discovery that remembering and finding home brings.  Finally, of course, home is a choice, something we create including others, founded solidly in our eternal home, Jesus Christ.
